According to popular hair dressers, pure red is believed to fade easily. It is advised that if you want to have a Ginger Spice red hair look, better put more shades of brown. It is proven that the overload of brown shade in the red highlights do stay longer. It also produces an extraordinary look to your current hairstyle.

Mahogany, copper, strawberry, red-brown and red-gold are among the most popular shades of red available in the market. Plum red is a cool tone of red and it is often used by people who have olive skin color as it gives them the dramatic look.

Did you know that hair colors are classified into two tones? These are cool and warm tones.

Cool Tones - medium ash brown, blue-black, dishwater blonde, deep coffee brown, medium golden brown, golden blonde, and white.
Warm Tones - red, deep brown, strawberry blonde and gray.

Now that we have classified the different colors that belong in each of the groups, we can now choose the best hair color. For cool tones, the shades of raven blacks, ash browns, burgundy, cool blondes and fire-engine red shades can compliment your looks best.
Yellow, gold, bronze or red must not be used by cool tones hair color people because it will only offer you a pale, unhealthy look.

Hair highlighting is really a fast-rising trend in the fashion industry. A lot of people uses it to express their individuality and fashion statement. Long time ago, only women consider putting highlights in their hair. These days, even straight men are joining the trends because the hair colors can give them a more elegant and stylish look.

We have four types of hair highlighting:

Chunking – It is the process of applying color on the different sizes of chunks of hair.
Foil Highlighting – It is the method wherein the foil is being used to separate the hair strands to shun mixing of colors on the rest of the strands.
Hair-Painting – Brush and Comb are used to apply color in the desired part of the hair.
Low lightning – It is the method of applying shades to natural hair that are much lighter.

Highlighting is also similar to other hairstyles. There is a modification or variation in terms of the conception of hair henna. The only dissimilarity is in terms of care and maintenance. One should be careful because the highlights used in fashion today have a lot of chemicals. As we all know, too much chemicals has negative effects on natural hair especially when this is being used for a long period of time. There is a big possibility that the original texture and natural shine of the hair will be damaged. Wrong choice of hair highlight can cause hair problems such as hair shedding, hair breakage, dryness and split ends.

During spring and summer, going swimming is in. May it be in the pool or at the beach, going swimming during these seasons is hard to resist. But do you know that this can cause damage to your hair? It’s not just too much exposure to the sun which can damage your hair. The contents of the water such as salt or chlorine can also damage your hair. You could either wear swimming caps or pull your hair up in order to protect your hair because salt water and chlorine can cause your hair to mat up. Gelatin can also be used to protect your hair when swimming. This is what some swimmers do.

Hats and hair loss

Hats, caps and other head gears are associated with hair loss. Yes, they may be linked together but it does not mean that one causes the other. The natural flow or form of your hair may be affected but that is just about it. Even head bands can cause this.

The only way these head accessories can be related to damage on your scalp is when you don’t clean your scalp after wearing them. They help in the accumulation of dirt in your scalp because wearing them causes your scalp to perspire more and become sticky and oily. This may hinder the natural growth of your hair. So after wearing them, make sure you clean your scalp thoroughly.

Hats and caps are associated with baldness because people who tend to wear them more often have actual problems of hair loss and they use these accessories to cover or hide their hair loss.

Dreadlocks

Contrary to the popular belief, dreadlocks do not cause damage to your scalp. The only thing you need if you decide to get dreadlocks is to keep them clean. And by keeping them clean, you make them smell nice. But how, you might ask. Taking care of your dreadlocks is not as burdensome as you think. Ideally, they should be washed 2-3 times a week, though you can get away with washing them only once. Use shampoos that are easy to rinse and do not leave residues. Just be careful on choosing products for your beloved dreadlocks, not every product which claims to be perfect for dreadlocks are actually perfect for it.

Got dandruffs?

48.jpg

Dandruffs can be embarrassing especially when you are on a public function, on a date, or even when in school or at work. But you need not worry. As annoying as they can be, dandruffs are not unmanageable.

Choosing the appropriate anti-dandruff shampoo is the first step. A good anti-dandruff shampoo contains an anti-fungal drug such as ketoconazole or salicylic acid. For optimum results, wash your scalp to remove the oil. The oil may prevent the active ingredients from penetrating your scalp and the fungi causing the dandruff may not be reached. You may apply the shampoo twice in one session. First is for oil removal, the second is for treatment. Avoid scratching you scalp if you have dandruff; it might just cause wounds.
